About

Join three members of our Articulation alumni as they explore different paintings in our collection in conversation with gallery experts. Through discussions spanning science, archival research and creative response, the speakers will uncover some fresh perspectives on the ways artworks can be understood and interpreted.

Isla Waring talks to David Peggie, a Senior Scientist at the Gallery, on the scientific investigation of paintings. Our Archivist Nicholas Smith is joined by Sarah Coward for a conversation on the Gallery's history and collections as told in our archival records, and Zinnia Coates discusses the creative potential of landscape painting with writer and editor Justin Hopper. Together, these talks offer a unique opportunity to explore art through the lenses of conservation, history, and contemporary creativity.

The talks take place in Room 63 at 6.30 pm, Room 40 at 7 pm and Room 18 at 7.30 pm.

Articulation is our public speaking initiative for young people designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of visual culture. Our speakers this evening were former participants in the Articulation Prize.
