Join Brixton Life Drawing for a special evening at the National Gallery, where the timeless practice of drawing from life meets centuries of artistic inspiration. Explore how artists have long studied the human form not only through line and light, but through the rich textures, folds, and movement of fabric. From the luminous drapery of Renaissance portraits to the expressive brushwork of later masters, cloth has always played a vital role in telling human stories.

Brixton Life Drawing was founded by two textile designers, Anya & Bex, and this session invites you to look beyond anatomy and consider the relationship between body and textile. Expect thoughtfully styled poses featuring layered fabrics, sculptural silhouettes, and tactile materials that echo the colours, compositions, and craftsmanship found throughout the Gallery's collection.

These fun and informal sessions, accompanied by music, are suitable for all levels of ability.

Materials are generously provided by Stabilo.

Brixton Life Drawing is the brainchild of homeware textile designers Bex and Anya. They met through work and in December 2019 made their life drawing dreams a reality. They offer both in person and online classes that are fun, inclusive and a great way to get those creative juices flowing. Whether you’re a complete beginner or the next Van Gogh, all experience levels are welcome. Their classes have been featured in 'The Evening Standard', 'The Guardian' and 'Time Out'.
